Service Learning Field Trips to Makumbaya
On Wednesday, May 23rd, and Thursday, May 24th, BAIS students will travel to Makumbaya Lower Basic School to put their learning into action! Through advocacy and art, this year’s Service Learning Project has focused on deforestation. During these field trips, students will participate with Makumbaya students to:
– Promote, demonstrate, and create biomass briquettes for Makumbaya students to share with their families and the community.
– Paint a mural in a visible community space outside of the school sharing the story of the forests, their importance and plight, and promoting the use of the biomass briquettes.
– Go on a nature walk to observe the diversity of forests in the Ballabu Conservation Project area and reflect on the project and its purpose.
BAIS Character Education Values for May
Our Character Education values for May are patience and understanding. Patience means the ability to remain calm and deal with a long wait or with a frustrating situation. Understanding means being willing and able to understand other people’s behavior and forgive them if you don’t agree with their behavior. Let’s all work together to practice these values and help bring them out in one another.
